The energy transition requires stable power grids. In the WindTurbine2030 joint project, we are researching the next generation of wind turbines equipped with grid-forming converters. Our focus is on optimizing the entire system: we combine state-of-the-art control technology with the mechanical and aerodynamic design of the turbines to provide primary reserve safely while minimizing material wear. The goal of this compact consortium of industry and research partners is to deliver concrete recommendations for future international IEC standards.
